Bring me a worm that can comprehend a man, and then I will show you a man that can comprehend the Triune God.
- John Wesley
Psalms of Delight...
Most of the Bible's Psalms give thanks to God on one or more levels. Commanded to do so, Christians aught to make the time to praise God for His glorious nature, creative genius and many gifts to mankind.
Psalms of Delight are written in concert with Psalms in the Night. Both series contain Modern Psalms meant to comfort and inspire those seeking the Omni-God revealed in Scripture.
Mind Blower Summary
C. S. Lewis wisely noted, "A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling ‘darkness’ on the wall of his cell." Nevertheless we sure try. Lewis himself had done so for three decades, later admitting "I was angry at God for not existing."
Reasons for faith are more compelling now than ever! Absolute proof for the existence of God is literally everywhere, as easily demonstrated by the simplest math equation possible: 0 + 0 = 0. Furthermore, evidence favoring the God of the Bible and the authority of Scripture abound. Even so, atheism and agnosticism, often fueled by facets of worldliness and issues with God, are on the rise. Quantum Christianity is designed to unpack and explore our doubts and grievances. Both legitimate and less so.
Mind Blower
Modern Psalm of Delight 1
Wow. Let me say that again. Wow!
All the Trekkies and geeks, sci-fi fanatics and geniuses off all time working feverishly together could never scratch the surface of Your nature! You're God, the One and Only. Omnity. In fact Tri-Omnity! Eternally Self Existent and Immutable, Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent. The great I Am, You're the glorious and divine Present Tense Participle.
Such unfathomable attributes! How can mere words do You justice? Externally Self Existent: the first cause Yourself causeless. Without beginning or end. Immutable: Immortal and constant. Unchanging in essence and character. Omnipresent: fully inhabiting the temporal and eternal, dwelling within and outside of time. Wholly and holy transcendent and immanent You fill all in all. Omniscient: Transrational and all knowing, the repository and dispenser of all that is and will be known. Intelligent Designer and fine tuner of the multiverse. Omnipotent: Perfect in power and authority. Almighty and infinite. Intrinsically capable, "nothing is impossible for You."
How do we approach such an awesome and awful Godhead? All our advances and inventions, stories and imaginations pale in comparison to what we know of You. And how much is that? A fraction of a fraction of a fraction and so on infinitum?
Through science and technology You given us front row seats! With knowledge growing exponentially, the secrets of creation are being laid bare before our eyes. From physics and cosmology to chemistry and biology we begin to see Your fantastic design more clearly. What a privileged and improbable planet. So miraculous in it's fine tuning permitters statistically there shouldn't even be one like Earth in the entire universe! Know wonder we're so busy poking and probing for the God Particle and the Theory of Everything.
Yet oddly, the more we see of Your handiwork the fewer believe. Even with random and naturalistic evolution completely discredited most of our best and brightest reject You, or at least the hope of knowing You. On one had who can blame them. Glorious in transcendence, what is man in comparison. On the other hand, how can unlocking the secrets of cosmic design ever disprove a Designer? It isn't rational much less scientific. Something else's at work. Perhaps Your glory, only dimly revealed through creation, is just too much for us. Your least reflection dizzying, giving even the most gifted vertigo!
As tragic as it is ironic, it seems that rather than inspiring awe in You, the phenomenal age and immensity of the observable universe more often than not engenders an opposite response. The simplest math, not to mention genuine science, prove the existence of a Creator. So much so that for naturalistic evolution to even seem a reasonable theory, a multiverse with an infinite number of universal possibilities must be imagined.
I apologize that our skepticism and selfishness, usurped by temptation and deception, have produced anything but the praise You deserve. How incredible are Your works! A million Earths would fit nicely into the Sun and two hundred billion suns fill the Milky Way. Not awesome enough? How about finding a single point of star light is actually an entire galaxy with hundreds of billions of suns? What of hundreds of billions, if not a trillion galaxies comprising a universe nearly 100 billion light years in diameter and almost 14 billion years old? Not to mention all this matter and more may have expanded from a point of cosmic singularity one hundred million trillion times smaller than the diameter of a proton, to about the size of a grapefruit, to our current observable universe!
Not fantastic enough? What about discovering that all this cosmic splendor represents as little as 5% of our universe, the remaining 95% consisting of dark matter and dark energy. Then there’s the incredible odds of fine tuning throughout our universe and galaxy, solar system and planet necessary for human existence. Some estimates put it at well over 1 in 1024,000,000 that I should exist and be able to write these words.
You must have hoped for a little honesty and respect when granting us the tools to discover intergalactic phenomena like quasars and pulsars, white dwarfs and red giants, galactic black holes and gaseous nebula in dazzling array and spectrums of color.
And the building blocks You used! Molecules and atoms, protons and electrons are just the beginning. Fermions and bosons, quarks and leptons, muons and gluons fill the silent, frozen emptiness of space and our minds with awe.
Again, there's dark matter and energy. Some ninety percent or more of Creation's filled with the mysterious macabre stuff. Given how the physical universe is a representation of spiritual and eternal realities are You trying to tell us something?
Well here's me telling You. You blow my mind!
