It seems crucial to note that in the quantum parable of the Sheep and the Goats, Jesus forever condemns not just those committing abortion, but those guilty of the sin of omission by failing to rescue the perishing. This in keeping with a myriad of Scriptures, including a direct warning from Proverbs:

• “Rescue the perishing; don’t hesitate to step in and help. If you say, “Hey, that’s none of my business,” will that get you off the hook? Someone is watching you closely, you know—Someone not impressed with weak excuses." Proverbs 24:11-12 The Message
  

This bodes poorly for modern Christian who for decades did little to nothing to end the holocaust of clinical abortion. Add to this that the all but ubiquitous use of contraceptive abortion through abortifacients may be an eternal problem. Particularly given the hesitancy or even refusal of church leadership to be informed, much less inform their congregations. Who, if they were like the average Catholic may well be warned, but pay little attention.

Rev. 9:21; 21:8; 22:15; Gal. 5:20 - these verses mention the word "sorcery." The Greek word is "pharmakeia" which includes abortifacient potions such as birth control pills. These pharmakeia are mortally sinful. Moreover, chemical contraception does not necessarily prevent conception, but may actually kill the child in the womb after conception has occurred (by preventing the baby from attaching to the uterine wall). 

Most clergy and laity object to such concerns, citing being personally pro-life and anti-abortion. Yet as noted, Christ seems to dismiss such justification in His story, not parable, of The Good Samaritan. One may well image the Priest and Levite who passed by, leaving the victim half dead, were both pro-safe travel and anti-robbery. Yet failing to stop and render immediate and long term aid nevertheless condemned them.

Keep in mind that church attending Christians could have ended abortion in a single day, 365 days a year, for 50 years, by simply sending 1% of our congregations to have family friendly picnics in front of every abortion clinic in America. With thousands peacefully blocking entrances, even should there be numerous arrests, the sheer numbers involved would shut down all abortuaries in a single day. With 99% more now authentically pro-life Christians waiting for a chance to join cause.

Still hundreds of millions maintain that the distance from the scene of the crime, abortion clinics, exonerates them from guilt. They argue that even if abortion is murder, there are many murders for which believers bear no responsibility. True, yet if they had been regularly scheduled to take place at a business locations for decades, producing a death toll of over 63 million in America alone, and we did nothing, would we not be culpable?

Note again Christ’s skillful use of the Priest and Levite in the story of the Good Samaritan, one of only two passages where Jesus is asked the most crucial of questions. Unlike the extra Biblical Pharisee and Sadducee much more prevalent in the gospel accounts, the Priest and Levite were ordained by God. In this actual account “There was a…” rather than “The kingdom of God is like…” we are not told directly why the Priest and Levite failed the test or what they were on their way to do.

Given the importance of the topic, the absence of detail strongly suggest that their reasons for passing by, good or bad, were irrelevant. In the same way the preponderance of modern Christians seem sympathetic to the issue and plight of abortion. Nonetheless, like the Priest and Levite before us, we have failed to discern that God so wonderfully and completely identifies with the needy that what we do and fail to do to the least we done or failed to do to Christ. According to Jesus, this is what it means to "love your neighbor as yourself."  And according to the context of the question, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" those without this kind of living faith will not do so. Seeing there's so much at stake, perhaps hundreds of millions need to reconsider the ramifications of being authentically pro-life.

Such concerns and more strongly suggest the overwhelming vast majority of First World believers fall far short of the Bible's standard of being authentically pro-life.

Even if and when agreeing to any or all the above points, many may excuse their past and present behavior by maintaining their sins have been or may be forgive just for the asking. Yet this alone hardly equates to Biblical forgiveness.

Wikipedia explains: In Biblical Hebrew, the idea of repentance is represented by two verbs: שוב shuv (to return) and נחם nicham (to feel sorrow). In the New Testament, the word translated as 'repentance' is the Greek word μετάνοια (metanoia)... 'to think differently after'. Metanoia is therefore primarily an after-thought, different from the former thought; a change of mind accompanied by regret and change of conduct, "change of mind and heart", or, "change of consciousness."

The Apostle Paul, the New Testament's greatest and living example of repentance states it this way:

• "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:1-2

• "Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Luke 3:7

• So the people asked him, saying, “What shall we do then?” He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.” Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Collect no more than what is appointed for you.” Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages."... And with many other exhortations he preached to the people. Luke 3:10

• "If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need." Ephesians 4:28

• "One day when large groups of people were walking along with him, Jesus turned and told them, "Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters—yes, even one's own self!—can't be my disciple. Anyone who won't shoulder his own cross and follow behind me can't be my disciple." Luke 14:25-27 The Message

• "Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor's crown except by competing according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this...Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself." 2 Timothy 2:3-7, 11-13

• "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” Luke 7:41-47

• "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

• "Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness—faith, love, peace—joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God. Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God's servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool, working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey. You never know how or when God might sober them up with a change of heart and a turning to the truth, enabling them to escape the Devil's trap, where they are caught and held captive, forced to run his errands." 2 Timothy 2:22-26 The Message

• "And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out." Ephesians 6:10-18 The Message

• "Prophets and priests and everyone in between twist words and doctor truth. My dear Daughter—my people—broken, shattered, and yet they put on Band-Aids, Saying, "It's not so bad. You'll be just fine." But things are not "just fine"! Do you suppose they are embarrassed over this outrage? Not really. They have no shame. They don't even know how to blush. There's no hope for them. They've hit bottom and there's no getting up. As far as I'm concerned, they're finished.'" GOD has spoken." Jeremiah 8:11-12 The Message

• "Remember our history, friends, and be warned. All our ancestors were led by the providential Cloud and taken miraculously through the Sea. They went through the waters, in a baptism like ours, as Moses led them from enslaving death to salvation life. They all ate and drank identical food and drink, meals provided daily by God. They drank from the Rock, God's fountain for them that stayed with them wherever they were. And the Rock was Christ. But just experiencing God's wonder and grace didn't seem to mean much—most of them were defeated by temptation during the hard times in the desert, and God was not pleased. The same thing could happen to us. We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did. And we must not turn our religion into a circus as they did—"First the people partied, then they threw a dance." We must not be sexually promiscuous—they paid for that, remember, with 23,000 deaths in one day! We must never try to get Christ to serve us instead of us serving him; they tried it, and God launched an epidemic of poisonous snakes. We must be careful not to stir up discontent; discontent destroyed them. These are all warning markers—danger!—in our history books, written down so that we don't repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. Don't be so naive and self-confident. You're not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else." 1 Corinthians 10:1-11 The Message

• "By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 2:3-11

• “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap. Galatians 6:7 AMP

• For they sow the wind [in evil] And they reap the whirlwind [in disaster]. Hosea 8:7 AMP

First, we must find the courage to face the undiluted truth of our situation.

In the movie, "First Knight" King Arthur is played by Sean Connery  As the Knights of the Round Table place their shinning swords on the table, Arthur always offers the same prayer, "May God grant us the wisdom to discern the right, the will to choose it and the strength to make it endure."  At this dark hour we should pray and work hard to do the same.

Scripture suggests that given the success of abortion's diabolical attack against the church. Pro-life activists are best prepared to approach God in intercession and pray so God will hear must learn to intercede for ourselves and the Church of our day as Christ did:

• "Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear."  Hebrews 5:7  

The hope and prayer of pro-life people everywhere is a global repentance along the lines of 2 Chronicles 7:14. As Nineveh embraced Jonah's warning, so America and indeed the world should heed the Bible’s prophetic advice, call for a sacred assembly and receive the Gospel of Life.

Historically, however, Nineveh's response is rare and fleeting. This unfortunate fact, in light of the tremendous weight of Scripture condemning the brutalizing of the weak and shedding of innocent blood, leads us to only one of two plausible conclusions:

1. Our aborting of more than a billion of our children is the pinnacle sin of mankind and will bring God's final judgment.

2. Our aborting of more than a billion of our children is the seed from which a sin of far greater magnitude will grow.

The obvious albeit religiously incorrect truth is that legalized will never be overturned. One needn’t be a prophet to see that never in mankind’s history has even the least of humanity’s sins been successfully repented of. Some cite slavery but sadly several forms of slavery continue unabated. Add to this that according to Scripture slavery, as distasteful as it seems, is not in and of itself a sin. If the smallest of sins has proven to much for the human race, how much more such an entrenched adversary as legalized abortion has become?

From Genesis to Revelation the Bible is replete with warnings and examples that God will not be mocked, that whatever an individual or culture sow shall be reaped. Hosea is even more bold declaring, "They sow the wind, And reap the whirlwind." So we see Scripture clearly confirms what we all know, that once planted, even an tiny seed, if not uprooted, will grow into a towering tree. It is inevitable that without an unprecedented global repentance, if not reformation, we shall reap either apocalyptic judgment or a new magnitude of sin that will reduce the death of a billion babies to mere seed.

Simply put, legalized abortion will never be overturned. It can only be ended and that by the Church doing what it should have done for over 15,000 days and counting…

Second, we must admit that the pro-life movement suffers from a similar malady as modern Christian leadership.

As the shepherds fear to alienate the sheep, we fear to alienate both sheep and shepherds.  We’ve spent decades developing methods to quietly gather the crumbs that fall from their table.  Dare we jeopardize our only and already woefully inadequate supply even for the Kingdom’s sake? Dare we must, both quickly and carefully.  We must hold summit meetings and continue doing so until we reach consensus and unity.  We should carefully measure our failures and limited successes. We should examine every facet of past, present and possible future opportunities and encourage all Christians to become authentically pro-life. As individuals and families, congregations and denominations, we should repent for past inaction, including failure to adequately support all pro-life causes from politics and Rescue, to chastity education and crises pregnancy centers. We must learn to prefer one another, exchange tactics for strategy and develop short term objectives within long term plans. 


Third, we must find a way to inoculate the Body of Christ with our new found repentance and unity.

Admittedly this is “a hard saying, who can hear it.”  Yet hard is not impossible.  There are wise and gentle ways we can begin to communicate a fuller picture of the impact of abortion and still make inroads into Churchianity. If we are to provide wise leadership in this arena we must be willing to fully open our own eyes to the challenge before us.  The simple fact is abortion’s holocaust exceeds, in quantity, quality, and diabolic cunning all current sins by and against humanity as in its elevation the moon excels Mt. Everest. Put simply, spiritually abortion and our inadequate response to it, represents the greatest Kingdom catastrophe in millennia. 


Medicine or Poison

The question is, after more than four decades of at best extremely limited success, is the leadership of the pro-life and/or pro-family movement ready to come to terms with the true impact abortion has had on the one institution most affected by it and the only one that can defeat it?  Western Christianity is at once our true patient, biggest problem and best answer to what is currently the greatest challenge of our time. 

It's been noted that the difference between medicine and poison is the dosage.  While an aspirin or two can calm a headache taking a hundred at once can kill.  Equally crucial in treating illness is the correct diagnosis.  Should the muscles of ones left arm ache from too much exercise, applying a topical analgesic rub like "deep heat" would be wisdom.  However, If the cause of the pain were a heart attack, misdiagnosis of the symptom could prove fatal.

Will we yet dare finally admit, even amongst ourselves, abortion's insidious spiritual nature?  That this sin is magnified exponentially given the identification expressed by Christ regarding His persecuted and particularly martyred “least brothers?" That the full weight of Jesus’ warning of the coming “Sheep and Goat” judgment is beginning to fall like a millstone on our blood soaked generation?  That we are far more guilty than was the pre-repentive Paul, to whom the peels of Christ's lightening thundered, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting ‘Me’?” and “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.”  

More than aborting babies we have been aborting Christ and continue to do so tens of thousands a times a day. Such betrayal of Jesus by begs answering a question from the old worship song, "What will you do with Jesus?"  It final refrain reminds, "one day your heart will be asking what will He do with me?"

On the other hand, given Jesus' warning such Scriptures as previously mentioned, perhaps we already know...

Author’s Note

By all indications, upcoming years and decades are likely to present ever more challenging spiritual and social, financial and physical situations for ourselves and families, friends and neighbors. Making matters worse, the state of current research and ministry strongly suggest that all aspects of today's anemic and all but powerless Churchianity are too subjective to successfully compete against the concrete demands and ubiquitous distractions, inflamed desires and mass deceptions presented by modern life.

Among the means at our disposal to combat such circumstances is the concept of moving beyond "praying for" into the realm of "pressing in" with the quantum hope of "praying through."

While individually Christians have over the years attempted as much, clearly our individual and even collective efforts have fallen far short. I myself have attended and/or led over 1,000 corporate prayer meetings and have yet to see Bethesda's waters significantly stirred, much less the promised and desperately needed "rivers of living water" or even "fountains springing up into eternal life."

Ruthlessly honest appraisal suggests that seeing our family and friends, fellow colleagues and Christians so often taken captive by this or that, the "strong man" among us must be bound to have been so personally and collectively plundered.

My sincere prayer is that none of the above is even remotely true. Would to God that the tenants of modern Christianity prove largely correct. May everything be going to heaven rather than "hell in a hand basket.” Yet, should the preponderance of Scripture and evidence suggest the remotest possibility that the foregoing is even close to the truth, responding with regular and revitalized corporate prayer seems the least we can do. UPDATE: Roe vs. Wade Overturned

To the joy of countless millions, on Friday 6/24/22 the landmark decision Hobbs vs. Jackson by the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe vs. Wade. Thus auspiciously ending 50 years of national tyranny against 60 million pre-born.

Or at lease throwing the decision to allow mothers to continue conspiring with physicians to murder the offspring within their wombs back to America's 50 individual states...

Nor does it address the more subtle yet sinful and deadly issue of contraceptive abortifacients, prevalent throughout society and modern Christianity.

While I now live in North East Texas, years ago I spent nearly 100 Saturdays at Central California clinics warning and imploring up to twenty girls a day to spare their babies. Via public parking constraints, forced to pass near I implored, “If God gives you the gift of a child don’t let anyone harm it” while handing them carefully explicit literature.

Often alone, sometimes there would be nearly a handful of us. On a good day, one or two mothers would listen and change their minds.

On many other occasions none at all.

As in Christ's end time parable of the Sheep and Goats, there I discovered Jesus in His smallest and most innocent form. Totally dependent for “food” and “drink,” “naked” and “in prison” in the very womb of His mother. There I watched as He was repeatedly carried, “Like a lamb to the slaughter,” into a medical clinic. A most solemn and sorrowful scenario with grave spiritual ramifications.

One repeated in Fresno alone over 50,000 times.

In over two years I don’t recall a single member of the clergy or even lay leader joining us. Though I understand the odds may have somewhat improved through the influence of 40 Days For Life.

Only a fraction of fraction of a percent of ordained ministers have served as a director of a leading pro-life organization. Far less still have had the honor and responsibility to act as a leading liaison to over a thousand churches in state wide pro-life political initiatives.

With well over thirty years in strategic Christian service, including more than a decade of pastoral ministry and pro-life activism, the author is privileged to belong to a select fraternity. This and other articles and books represent a culmination of this experience. Using such depth perception, this commentary is intended to introduce the true nature of the challenge presented by abortion. Particularly to modern Christianity.

During California’s 2005 Prop. 73 Parent’s Right To Know initiative I produced the pro-life political DVD entitled “Protect Me…Please” to be shown in hundreds, if not thousands of churches, prior to or on election Sunday. Groundbreaking, the 3 minute video featuring post abortive laments of teenage girls, made the front page of both the LA Times and San Francisco Chronicle. Prop. 73 failed by a narrow margin.

During the subsequent Prop. 85 initiative I achieved another milestone. For the first time, four leading Protestant state denominations, the Southern Baptists, Assemblies of God, Calvary Chapel and Foursquare, officially endorsed a political initiative. Again Parent’s Right to Know (PRK) was defeated.

Our third attempt in 2008 with Prop 4. affectionately dubbed “Sarah’s Law” failed as well. More than political, my involvement was spiritually motivated. After having spoken to thousands of Christians across denominational lines, it was clear that far less than 1% of either clergy or laity had the vaguest notion of the scale of abortion’s true threat to either the pre-born or the Church.

As a topical Biblical commentary, Quantum Christianity was designed in recognition of the need to examine and handle truth carefully and honestly. Scriptural and otherwise. The nationalized legalization of clinical abortion, and its apparent overruling, presents a perfect case in point.

A faithful handling of the Old and New Testament requires would be students and adherents to develop spiritual discernment on a variety of subjects crucial to Biblical Christianity. The lack of which has produced hundreds of differing denominations espousing various Christs and versions of the gospel. Tragically, many of the hopeful insights inherent in Christ's command to "Judge with righteous judgment" continue to go largely unrealized within modern Christianity.

Such is certainly the case when considering the American church's 50 year track record in regards to an appropriate response to abortion. Or more accurately, the lack thereof. Both clinically and contraceptively.

Yet nothing could be further from the case. Then or now.

Nor have we seriously addressed the widespread use of abortifacient contraception throughout Christendom. A topic that many, if not most, churches and even pro-life organizations know or speak little about. Most often chemical in nature, early term abortions are a result of various forms of birth control and other devices. Abortions of this kind happen before the mother is aware of her pregnancy. The exact numbers are unknown. Some estimates suggest the daily total of these types of abortions may be surprising large. In the U.S. alone perhaps between 834,000 to over 4,000,000 per year (Dr. Bobmir Kuhar, Infant Homicides Through Contraceptives Pg 27.) Lower estimates range around 100,000 to over 1,500,000 annually (Randy Alcorn: Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortions? How Often Does the Pill Cause Abortions?)

Thus the compelling need to rethink Jesus' directive to “Judge with righteous judgment” should be abundantly evident.

But is it? Throughout the Hobbs vs. Jackson decision by the Supreme Court celebratory posts and podcasts, sermons and ceremonies, is there any awareness of the reality of the seriousness our situation? Or brokenhearted repentance in light of the depth of our failures?

Are any of today's joyful messages cognizant of the Bible's repeated warning that God is not mocked.

• “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap. Galatians 6:7 AMP
