We know God exists and that evidence abounds for Biblical authenticity. We know we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We also know that given the challenges before us, particularly in regards to life after death, we need a faithful Creator and Savior.
Scriptures provide a wealth of information concerning all aspects of life, including amazing insights into Eternity and it's inconceivable baring on humanity. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer believe in the Bible enough to honestly study more than a few passages they enjoy. Even most Christians have a hard time quoting ten, or even five Scriptures in a row. Yet a thorough examination of the entire context and content of Scripture not only reveals amazing insights into human existence, but very past, present and future of eternity itself!
Ignorance, particularly spiritual ignorance, isn't really bliss. Its just another form denial leading to dysfunction. All the more true given Scripture's warnings that ancient and malevolent enemies prowl around like lions seeking whom they may devour. The wisest course is to diligently study and courageously face the reality of our situation.
Compared with Heavenly beings, mankind is created as ignorant as a blank slate. Given the fantastic lifespans of angels and even demons, it's literally an overstatement to say we were born yesterday and die tomorrow. The differences in age, intelligence and glory between Heavenly beings and ourselves may literally be greater than that between man and mayfly, which are lucky to live a few minutes.
Then why try? Why spend an iota of effort guessing at what we can't prove. Even if we found the truth, how would we demonstrate it? Here again science provides encouraging examples. With herculean effort and ruthless honesty researchers combined their modest findings over centuries finally enabling miraculous advances. As the father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton explained, "If I've seen farther than most it's because I've stood on the shoulders of giants."
Unfortunately, research into the eternal has fewer qualified takers. Even theologians and clergy are far more likely to prefer the status quo than re-examine traditional or modern beliefs. Many even malign such speculation, citing a passage here and there and trusting reciting a special prayer or other religious act is all one needs to be saved and secure for Eternity. Beyond that what is there to do? Don't the angels in Heaven rejoice more over one sinner that repents than ninety nine others already safe?
True, but far from the whole truth. The Bible clearly warns of a rebellion in Eternity that millennia ago spilled onto the Earth. A rebellion soon to escalate into a War in Heaven that will mark the most intense period of the Great Tribulation. Already Revelation's prophecy is unfolding and deception is rampant, even within the church. Stars will fall from the sky as cosmic war approaches in which millions if not billions of angels will be led by the Evil One who's army, when it comes to humanity, is no longer heavenly.
